

As many as 14,000 pilgrims from the Sultanate, marking the allocated quota for this Hajj season, performed the holy Haj this year, according to the Omani Haj Mission.
Speaking to the Observer on the sidelines of the media briefing held under the auspices of Ahmed bin Saleh al Rashdi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs and Head of the Omani Hajj Mission, he said that while people performing the obligatory Haj constituted 90% of the total, those performing voluntary Haj or fulfilling wills made up the remaining 10%.
The quota was distributed by gender as follows: 52% men and 48% women. The 45-60 age group comprised the largest segment at 40%, followed by the 30-44 age group at 38%.He further said that 10,966 pilgrims from the Sultanate of Oman performed Hajj via air travel (78%), while 3,034 pilgrims (22%) traveled by land. The average cost of Hajj by air was RO 2,013, while the average cost by land was RO 1,647.
He said that the 1447 AH Haj season achieved high-quality indicators in the level of services provided to pilgrims from the Sultanate of Oman during the past season.He reviewed the most prominent indicators of the season, its achievements, and the development initiatives implemented to serve pilgrims from the Sultanate of Oman.
He emphasised that the success of the season was due to the wise directives and continuous support of the Government of the Sultanate of Oman, close cooperation with various governmental and private entities, and the significant efforts exerted by the Ministry of Haj and Umrah in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the participating service and security agencies. He also commended the role played by Haj and Umrah companies and all those working in the mission in serving the pilgrims.
